Shigeto is... Nearly indescribable. His music, on many levels, is what one might call "ambient electronica", but this would be an ignorant analysis of the material presented. When one really tunes in to the emphatic movements of each carefully rendered piece, it is clearly magnified as having a deeper form: truly unique and deeply personal instrumentalia, a sonic arrangement of the self. The music weeps, with gorgeous minimalist soundscapes and the questioning, beat driven passion of early instrumental hip-hop. It looks inward, outward, and often slows the mind while directing the eye towards the positive. Ultimately, it is soulful, hopeful music that depicts the beauty in the world in a manner most powerful.
